Revving up for her arena tour this November and December, “Dr. Ringo 2014 – The Girl Strikes Back”, Sheena Ringo has announced the release a new original album — her first in five and a half years.
Her release of an original album under the name Sheena Ringo is the first since 2009’s “Sanmon Gossip”. In 2012, Sheena’s band, Tokyo Jihen, broke up, and last year marked the 15th anniversary of her musical debut, spurring the release of several commemorative goods. Through all of this she has continued to consistently release singles as a solo artist, and now she has decided to put these together in the form of a long-awaited new album.
The title of the album is “Hiizuru Tokoro” (Where the Sun Comes Out), and it will be released on November 5th, 2014. In addition to the six familiar hit singles often heard as opening themes for television dramas, the album will contain seven newly written singles, for a total of thirteen tracks.
Japan is called “Land of the Rising Sun” because it is in the east where the sun rises every day. So, this album’s name ‘Hiizuru Tokoro’ means “Japan”.
She says “There are riches, liberty, and solitude here.” You’d be looking forward to her new work. How will it become?
