SKE48 paid tribute to founding member Masana Oya during her graduation concert “~Minna Minna Arigatou~!” at Nippon Gaishi Hall on September 24, 2017! 7,000 fans and 66 members of SKE48 assembled to close the door on the 9 year career of “Nagoya’s Snow White”.

The performance began promptly at 11:30am with “Overture” bringing the venue to life as the fans rose to their feet. Masana called out, “Everyone everyone, let’s have fun! (Minna minna, tanoshinde ikimashou!)” as she and the 65 other members of SKE48 took to the stage and got the day started with “Koi wo Kataru Shijin ni Narenakute…” from the group’s 2nd Stage “Seifuku no Me”. Moving into SKE48’s singles, the performance continued on with “Choco no Dorei”, “Igai ni Mango”, and “Kataomoi Finally”.

Moving into unit songs, Masana was joined by Ryoha Kitagawa, Chikako Matsumoto, Yuzuki Hidaka, and Yukina Yahagi for “Onna no Ko no Dairokkan”. This was followed by Yuna Obata, Natsuki Kamata, and Haruka Kumazaki for “Gyakuten Oujisama”. Masana returned with Ruka Kitano, Saki Takeuchi, and Rara Goto for “Ashita no Tame ni Kiss wo”, before receiving a surprise from former Team S concurrent member Natsumi Tanaka (HKT48 Team H) during “Suki! Suki! Skip!”.

This was followed by a performance of “Kodoku na Ballerina” which featured ballet dancing by Akari Suda and Sarina Soda accompanied by the singing of Nao Furuhata and Akane Takayanagi. Known for “targeting” the youngest and cutest members of SKE48, Masana was beside herself with delight as she shared the stage with her beloved Yuna Ego as well as Ayuka Kamimura, Airi Mizuno, Saki Ishikawa, Yuzuki Ishiguro, and Ami Kurashima for “Ookami to Pride”. The performance took a turn down the road of Masana’s successes in the AKB48 senbatsu sousenkyo with a medley of songs she had been featured in including “Sayonara Surfboard” (Undergirls 2015), “Dareka ga Nageta Ball” (Undergirls 2014), “Ai no Imi wo Kangaete Mita” (Undergirls 2013), “Nante Bohemian” (Undergirls 2012), “Dakishimecha Ikenai” (Undergirls 2011), and “Namida no See-Saw Game” (Undergirls 2010).

The latter part of the performance continued with “Bouenkyou no Nai Tenmondai” a song where Masana had won the center position through her popularity in the Passion For You mobile game. Accelerating into the high energy dance track “Escape” and through several more of SKE48’s singles as well as Masana’s first unit song “Choco no Yukue”, the main performance ended on an emotional note with “Kamigami no Ryouiki”. Masana and Jurina Matsui held hands, the last of the 1st generation members remaining since the song was recorded back in 2012. With the rest of the 66 members of SKE48 dancing behind them, tears rolled down Jurina’s face as the music ended.

With a resounding “Masana” encore call, Oya returned to the stage, opening with her graduation song “Eien no Legacy”, standing high above the soft glow of white and blue penlights as she sang. Thanking the fans and members from the bottom of her heart, she left the stage before being called back out by Jurina during the following song “Mirai to wa?”. Jurina mentioned that over the past 9 years even as members had come and gone, even when Masana was far away, they had stayed in close contact with each other and even though it would be lonely without her, she wanted to wish her luck in the future.

Masana thanked the other members, staff, and fans for their support, adding that she loves SKE48 so much that she imagined herself being around until she was 50 if she didn’t make the decision to graduate. Her moving words brought laughter as she stumbled and mistakenly said that she hadn’t done anything thoroughly, instead of saying that she no longer had anything she felt to accomplish. The final song of the encore “Daisuki” was accompanied by a congratulatory video message from Haruna Kojima and a banner with messages from the members and “Masana♡Daisuki” hanging down on the stage. With tears in her eyes, Masana once again gave her heartfelt thanks.

Remaining on stage all alone, Masana waved to the fans, commenting, “I will burn this image into my memory and go home. There’s still my graduation day so I hope to make many more memories until then and ask for your support until that day. With a warm round of applause, the curtain came down on Masana Oya’s graduation concert. The date of her graduation performance at the SKE48 Theater and details regarding her future plans has yet to be determined.
