Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has been chosen as the new mascot for Glico’s “Ice no Mi”. The announcement was made at a press conference on June 17th in Tokyo, where it was also revealed that the new TV commercial featuring Kyary will go on air starting on July 1st.
Kyary appeared at the press conference clad in a costume with colorful balls representing “Ice no Mi” attached all over – a design which Kyary and a stylist conceived together.
Kyary commented on “Mi”, the song that was written for the “Ice no Mi” commercial, “it’s a surprising song because the chorus of the song just goes “mi-mimimi.” Yasutaka Nakata produced it just for the ‘Ice no Mi’ commercial, and it really is a surprising song and it will stick in your head.” She also said that the only word used in the commercial, including the narration, is “Mi”, and that she came up with the the signature pose used in the commercial.
It was also announced that the official iPhone/iPad app “Mi” will be released when the commercial goes on air. The app converts anything the user says into Kyary’s voice saying “mi”.
The new song “Mi” will be included in her 2nd album “Nandacollection”, to be released on June 26th.
