The popular rock band BUMP OF CHICKEN, which has released its new album Ray, is also releasing a separate version of the title song “Ray”, a duet version with Hatsune Miku, as well as a music video for the new version.
The band adopted a wide range of new approaches for the melody, lyrics, and arrangement of “Ray”. As the band considered how they could present the song’s fresh, new sound in a more novel and avant-garde way, they arrived at the decision to collaborate with Hatsune Miku.
In order to make this collaboration happen, several players have joined the project. This includes of course Miku Hatsune’s developer Crypton Future Media, kz (livetune) in charge of Miku Hatsune’s programming, creative production A4A Atsunori Toshi as director of the music video, and Yumiko as Hatsune Miku’s dance choreographer.
Atsunori Toshi is also working on other projects, including film production for Miku Hatsune’s vocaloid opera “The End” and general production of a fashion collaboration between Miku Hatsune and Louis Vuitton. For the music video for “Ray” that Toshi is directing, Crypton Future Media has created a new 3DCG model called “14 (one-four) Model”. This company also developed the system that was used to conduct the filming and recording. The music video will be released on Bump of Chicken’s official special site (http://bump.mu/) at a later date.
