SENTO GIRL is photo project aiming to show you the renaissance of Sento through the collaboration of these wonderful creators! For the 4th series, we welcomed Yuho Uchida as model. (See the vol.1 and vol.2). Sento is not just for local elderly people, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”! We challenge making Sento into completely another world by gathering the girls’ creators’ power!
Sento are public bathhouses which have been a part of Japanese culture for centuries and it may be worlds away from a lot of the latest Japanese culture usually featured on Tokyo Girl’s Update, but with the cooperation of TOKYO SENTO, we have begun our journey into the unique and comforting world of Sento.

We have visited Aizen-yu located in Itabashi-ku for the shooting. Usually it’s not allowed to take a bath with your clothes on, but the owner kindly gave exceptional permission to us for doing it for this project, on the closed day.
These photos are the result of a collaboration between model Yuho Uchida, photographer and Miss iD 2016 semifinalist mitfo, hair make-up artist hitomi, and stylist KAKO MIYAKE. The costume Yuho wearing is hand-made by KAKO MIYAKE. It completely matches to Yuho’s gentle atmosphere and this Sento’s color usage.
We enjoyed extra fun with a lot of rubber duckies in the Sento. Usually kids love doing this, but it makes any bathtime fun for anyone, doesn’t it? The vivid yellow color creates happy atmosphere in the Sento!
As the vol.1 of the series we focused on the entrance and outside of the bath, in the vol.2 we featured more inside of the bath, and in the last vol.3 here are more pictures of Yuho in the bath!
