Fumi Nikaido to Play the Role of a Cute “Idol” in the Upcoming Film “Hibi Rock”

Having appeared in films by such famous film directors as Sion Sono, Takashi Miike and Tetsuya Nakashima, as well as “Watashi no Otoko” – a movie she co-starred with Tadanobu Asano and that was awarded the “Best Film Award” at the 36th Moscow International Film Festival – actress Fumi Nikaido has made remarkable progress in just a few short years. And in “Hibi Rock” we get to see her play the role of a cute “idol”.

Being both an idol and a heavy drinker, Saki, played by Nikaido, is an unconventional character. “Hibi Rock” is the story about “good-for-nothing” Takuro Hibinuma, a young man who has no talent for neither study nor sports, but who does has a love for rock music second to none, and how he as a high school student starts a band and performs at the school’s culture festival. After graduating, he and the other band members move to Tokyo to try their luck, but their rocker careers fail to take off… But then one day he suddenly meets Saki Utagawa – a successful artist with a fresh style, taking the world by storm – and his destiny changes forever.
The film will go up on theaters all over Japan on November 22.
