AKB48 Team 8 Assemble at Tokyo Idol Festival 2017!

2017 was a big year for the 48Groups and Sakamichi franchises at Tokyo Idol Festival, as not less than 8 of their affiliated acts performed on the main stage! AKB48 Team 8 returned for the second year in a row to bring their love from the 47 prefectures of Japan together in Odaiba on August 6th.
Lead by Tokyo representative Yui Oguri, 16 members of the 47-member unit participated. Taking the stage, Team 8 started with the AKB48 summer anthem of 2016, “LOVE TRIP”, centered by Kumamoto prefecture representative Narumi Kuranoo, following up with another upbeat AKB48 single, “Kibouteki Refrain”. As the crowd gradually got more and more excited with “First Rabbit”, the group then paused to introduce themselves one by one, proudly announcing their individual prefectures.
Fukui prefecture representative Kurena Chou played a guitar as the group returned to the performance with the AKB48 hit ballad “365-nichi no Kamihikouki”, the heartwarming sight of a big circle of fans singing along in the very back of the audience was spotted. Team 8 then moved onto some of their original repertoire, with “Seifuku no Hane” and the energetic “Shishunki no Adrenaline”!
The performance was approaching its end, and the crowd got extremely excited as Team 8 started dancing along the first chimes of their anthem, “47 no Suteki no Machi he”, happily shouting out their prefecture names during the bridge. The show ended with AKB48’s iconic “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie”, as the members were guiding their fans with the “onigiri” dance!
Team 8 confirmed their status of one of the most anticipated acts of Tokyo Idol Festival 2017, once again increasing their growing fan base. Will the Team 8 bus of love stop by Tokyo Idol Festival in 2018 to make it 3 in a row? We sure hope so!
