HKT48 have released the MVs for the coupling songs from their 5th single “12 Byo” (release date: April 22)!

In the MV for “Rock da yo, Jinsei wa….” (all versions), which is one of the more popular songs that HKT48 performs live, has the members on a stage in the middle of a gymnasium as several hundred of their female fans cheer them on. Wearing colorful jumpsuits, Team H seems to be visually paying homage to the outfits worn when it was originally performed during Himawarigumi’s 2nd stage. It’s a cheerful update to one of the classic rock-style songs in the AKB48 song catalog.

“Hohoemi Popcorn” (Type-A exclusive) is by HKT48’s 3rd generation members performing as the unit “Popcorn Children” and the video has them working and playing in a colorful cafe and eating popcorn (obviously). If you have ever seen the line outside Garrett Popcorn in Harajuku, it might be easier to understand why it has become a snack synonymous with youth culture in Japan. Whether or not that was the image that HKT48 was going for, it will be hard to not want to go grab some after watching the MV for “Hohoemi Popcorn”!

With the appointment of Haruka Wakatabe as the center of “Chameleon Joshikousei” (Type-B exclusive), can this be taken as a sign of her moving into HKT48 senbatsu in the near future? With its colorful backgrounds and satin jackets worn by Team H and their various facial expressions, it looks like the title is being interpreted figuratively instead of literally. It would have been pretty awesome to see Nako Yabuki or Rino Sashihara dancing around in a chameleon outfit though.

Despite it’s title, the MV for “Hawaii he Yukou” (Type-C exclusive) could use a little more Hawaiian flavor. As this is only the short version, the video focuses on the members of Team KIV as they prepare to depart from the airport. SKE48 went to Hawaii to film the MV for “Pareo wa Emerald” but, it seems unlikely that HKT48 would have had time to do it as they were preparing for HKT48 Sashihara Rino Zachou Kouen at Meiji-za which opened on April 8th.

As previously mentioned, “12 byo” will be released in Type-A, Type-B, and Type-C CD & DVD versions. The Type-A exclusive track is “Hohoemi Popcorn” which will be performed by a unit made up of the 3rd generation members called “Popcorn Children”. The Type-B exclusive track is by Team H and is titled “Chameleon Joshikousei”. The Type-C exclusive track is by Team KIV and is titled “Hawaii he Yukou”.
