SUPER☆GiRLS Celebrate 7th Anniversary and Begin Next Chapter With New Leader Ruka Mizote!

SUPER☆GiRLS were over the rainbow as they celebrated the day of their formation as a group at Zepp Diver City on June 17, 2017 for SUPER☆GiRLS 7th Anniversary LIVE! In addition to being packed with exciting performances of many of the beloved songs from their discography, it was also the first day of Ruka Mizote assuming duties as the 4th leader of the group.

As it was their 7th anniversary, the theme of the day was “rainbow”, known for having 7 distinct colors within its spectrum, many songs with rainbow in the titles were performed in addition to there being 8-song “rainbow medleys” performed during the afternoon and evening lives.

Another unique feature of the performances was that they were the first in the world to incorporate scents (via scentair) which accompanied the songs, making for a 3-dimensional experience.

Ruka Mizote was revealed as the 4th leader of SUPER☆GiRLS during the encore of the evening performance, taking the stage and delivering the opening pledge to “Hanamichi!! Ambitious”, the responsibility held by previous leader Ami Maeshima until her graduation on March 31, 2017. Vowing to do everything she could in her power as the new leader to show the fans and other members the best scenery possible, Ruka’s declaration lit up Zepp Diver City once more to close out the evening.

The position of leader was decided via fan club votes cast from April 23 – May 17 during SUPER☆GiRLS LIVE TOUR 2017~Sweet☆Smile~.

In addition to having locked down appearances at Tokyo Idol Festival 2017 and @JAM EXPO 2017, SUPER☆GiRLS will be collaborating with crepe chain MOMI & TOY’S for a a limited run of desserts from June 17 to July 23, 2017, opening a pop-up cafe at Storia Cafe in Ikebukuro (August 16-31), returning to Shinjuku BLAZE on September 29 for another 1-hour non-stop live, and will be holding their 1st one-man live in Taiwan on October. Few idol groups make it to their 7th year but it seems like SUPER☆GiRLS is set to accomplish some big things! Don’t take you eyes off of them!
