“Crazy Gum Broadcast (aka CGB)”, Lotte’s website that transmits fun and unique information related to chewing gum, is to use HKT48 as image characters for their new CM. The CM will be broadcast nationwide excluding some areas starting on Friday, July 19th.
In the CM, Rino Sashihara, playing the role of the advisor for the specially formed “HKT48 Gum Magic Club”, and Sakura Miyawaki, skilled in performing magic tricks and playing the manager, perform magic tricks as they chew gum.
Sashiara’s nose extends as if she turned into a tengu – a long-nosed goblin.
Tengu are a type of legendary creature found in Japanese folk religion and are also considered a type of Shinto god (kami) or yōkai (supernatural beings), but in most cases today, “to be a tengu” is used with the connotations of “to get puffed up” or “to be overly proud.”
It is meant to satirize Sashihara’s victory at the most recent general elections.
The specially set up website shows various members of the group performing magic tricks in addition to the CM itself, so check it out!
