While many idol groups are in chaotic warring states, girls’ band culture is recently gathering public attention again. Above all, there is an unique girls’ band features two-sword performance style (both in Band style and Dance style). It’s HIME carat.

They have just released their 2nd major single “Body Rockabilly” in the last week. Following the debut single ‘51% Platonic’, Masao Urino, who is a famous hit maker in 80’s Japanese music industry, participated in the production. The girls brings the whole new idol sound to the public with rock and rockabilly taste.

We visited a girls-rock-band-only live event that HIME carat participated, in order to know their charms more. The event was being held at Harajuku Astro Hall. That day was just a release date of their new single “Body Rockabilly.” So, lots of their fans also gathered to the venue.
We’ve heard that their performance style was mixture of “Idol” and “Girly Rock Band.” So, we thought it might be pop performance until we saw that in our own eyes. At the same time as they started playing, they made a vivid impression to us. It was obviously “ROCK” performance.
Of course, some fans enjoyed their performance in the way idol wotaku do usually, like waving a stick light. However, their music has faster BPM that is uncommonly in Idol songs. So, the more the girls performed eagerly, the more fans got excited. When they performed “Body Rockabilly” at the end, audiences’ excitement reached the climax. We just witnessed that the new girls culture is beginning to heat up.

Fortunately, we got a opportunity to shoot a video message to overseas fans from HIME carat.
Check it out below!
