SENTO GIRL –Daiichi Kinjoyu x Aris Mukaide – vol.3SENTO GIRL -第一金乗湯×アリスムカイデ- vol.3
Sento are public bathhouses which have been a part of Japanese culture for centuries and it may be worlds away from a lot of the latest Japanese culture usually featured on Tokyo Girl’s Update, but with the cooperation of TOKYO SENTO, we have begun our journey into the unique and comforting world of Sento as “SENTO GIRL” photograph project welcoming Kanako Hiramatsu as a model.
For the second series, we’ve visited Daiichi Kinjoyu located in Itabashi-ku, welcoming Aris Mukaide as a model. This sento was renovated and reopened in March of 2013, with a more modern stylish looking design. In the vol.1 of the series, we focused on the entrance and outside of the bath, in vol.2 we featured more inside of the bath, and in the vol.3, here are pictures of Aris relaxing in the bath!
Although the color of the hot water is not light blue, the photographer mitifo made the color contrast between Aris’ white outfit and her white smooth skin.
These photos are the result of a collaboration between model Aris Mukaide, photographer and Miss iD 2016 semifinalist mitfo, hair make-up artist hitomi, and stylist Yuduki Mori. We want to show you the renaissance of Sento through the collaboration of these wonderful creators , that’s what the SENTO GIRL series is aiming for!
Although you might have a image that Sento is mostly local old people, however, according to people from Tokyo Sento we collaborated with, the number of young people going to Sento has been increasing recently. We hope we can help the movement to grow more with SENTO GIRL project!
We hope you enjoyed SENTO GIRL featuring Aris Mukaide along with the last one with Kanako Hiramatsu. Who’s next? If you have any request, please leave your comment!
