LADYBABY Returns Without Ladybeard? The Idol Formerly Known As LADYBABY is Born!

On August 1, 2016, LADYBABY, the group that shocked the world in 2015 with their debut single “Nippon Manju”, announced the end of their hiatus (“recharging period”) via Twitter and their official site at 12:00pm (JST)! However, they will be beginning the new chapter of their story without Ladybeard and have changed their name to The Idol Formerly Known As LADYBABY!
Racking up more than 16 million views with their MV for “Nippon Manju” and traveling to the United States (New York, Los Angeles), the United Kingdom (London), and Germany (Cologne) to perform in the months following, LADYBABY was one of the biggest breakthrough artists to come out of Japan in 2015. Announcing their hiatus at the end of their “LADYBABY 1st Japan Oneman Live 2016 〜Sekai no Rule wo Kaechaou〜” at Shinjuku BLAZE on April 15, 2016, fans around the world were left to wonder when they would return. The reason why Ladybeard will not be continuing on with the group was not revealed but, given his incredibly busy schedule it should not be too surprising, although it is still quite sad.
Celebrating the group’s re-debut, a 2-man live with Oyasumi Hologram “The Idol Formerly Known As LADYBABY 〜Let’s go crazy〜” will be held at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM, on September 17, 2016. This will be their first appearance as “The Idol Formerly Known As LADYBABY”.
To break off LADYBABY’s history chapter 1, the release of the best album “ONE YEAR BEST ~2015-2016~” and LIVE DVD “LADYBABY First Japan One-man Live ~Sekai no Rule wo Kaechaou” has been announced for September 14, 2016. Tickets for that one-man live went sold out immediately, so this is must-have for fans who couldn’t come to see them on that magical evening.
