Breakthrough Japanese Idol Support Mobile App CHEERZ Aims for the World With the Addition of Multilingual Features! Yay!

If you love Japanese idols, you are always looking for ways to support them, whether it’s watching them on a DVD, buying goods at events, following them on Twitter, reading their blog, or subscribing to their YouTube channel. However, the biggest problem is that most of what they put online is in Japanese. Even if you follow them on Instagram or Vine which is visual, you might just end up getting a newsfeed full of pictures of their pets or meals.

CHEERZ is a mobile application that was launched by Fogg in December 2014 that allows fans to support their favorite idols by giving them “CHEERZ” on the pictures they upload. Previously only available in the original Japanese language version, the latest update, made possible through a joint project between Fogg and All Blue (the company that runs Tokyo Girls’ Update), now includes English and Chinese. A French version is coming soon too!

In only a few short months there have already been 40 million “CHEERZ” and that was mostly thanks to users in Japan! How many more “CHEERZ” will there be now that it is available in multiple languages?

The language settings on CHEERZ are determined by what language you have your device set to. It seems that the person who took the screencaps shown has their phone set to Japanese. Currently, the names of the idols and their messages are still in Japanese but will be addressed in a future update.

Using CHEERZ is easy!

Simply open the app, find your favorite idol, tap on the picture you like and tap the pink ♡CHEER! button on the screen. Daily, weekly, and monthly rankings are tallied so you can see who the most popular idols are and how your favorite idols are doing.

You can CHEER as much as you like but once you’ve used up all your CHEERZ, you must wait 20 minutes for your counter to refill 1 CHEER. If you’re feeling impatient, there is an in-app purchase option to add points to your account so you can keep CHEERing. As you keep CHEERing, you level up and the capacity of your counter increases, allowing you to CHEER more!

Additionally, you can also tweet the posts that you like to share your favorites with your followers as well.

As of March 1st, there were members from over 50 different idol groups contributing their pictures to CHEERZ and there are more joining every day! Here is a list of the groups/soloists that are currently using CHEERZ. To find out more about each group/soloist, simply click on their name below and you will be redirected to their official website or blog. A lot of the idols on this list might not be too well known now but, if CHEERZ continues to grow as fast as it has since December, it may end up being an app that every idol must use!
