2nd Wave of @JAM EXPO 2018 Performers Announced!
-Now, the new album “SPOT” goes on sale March 10th. It’s been a one and a half year break since the last album. How do you feel about this?
3月10日に1年半ぶりのアルバム「SPOT」がリリースされますが、1年半間空いたのは長かった感じですか？
ayaka: I realized that it’s been a year and half.
1年半も空いてたんだ、って思いました。
hina: It went by in the twinkle of an eye.
あっという間でしたね。
yumi: Every 3 months we were releasing new singles, so when we before we realized it, a year and a half had already passed.
3ヶ月ごとぐらいにシングルを発売してたので、気付いたら1年半？って感じでした。
-How is the quality?
出来上がりはどんな感じですか？
ayaka: It’s amazing! (replying almost instantly)
すごいですよ（即答）
All: LOL
（笑）
yumi: Can people overseas listen to it??
アルバムは海外の方も聴けるんですかね？
-Is there overseas distribution on iTunes?
iTunesでの海外配信は…？
Staff: We are planning to have it soon.
そろそろやる方向では進めてます。
ayaka: Then they should be able to!
そしたら聴いてもらえる！！
Staff: Not just the new songs but the old songs too.
以前の作品も出す予定でいます。
All: Wow!! (Applause)

-Then if you’re reading this Interview from outside of Japan…
そしたらこの記事を読んだ海外の人が…
mei: Let’s deliver the message clearly! Okay? (lol)
ちゃんと伝えよう、ちゃんと！（笑）
ami: It would be nice if people who don’t know about “idol rap” read this article and become interested in it.
アイドルラップが分からない人も、これを読んで聴いてもらえたら嬉しいですね。
mei: The songs sing a lot about us, so first-time listeners might be able to understand what kind of group lyrical school is.
自分たちのことを歌っている曲がすごく多いので、初めて聴いた方も「こういうグループなんだ」って分かってもらえるかな？って思います。
minan: There are lots of different songs you can listen to and it’s an album that introduces lyrical school.
曲調も様々な曲が入っているので、これを聴いてもらえたら今までと今のlyrical schoolも分かる”自己紹介アルバム”みたいな感じだと思います。
ayaka: In the lyrics the words “lyrical school” appear quite often.
歌詞の中にも「lyrical school」って言葉が入ってますしね。
-Is there one song that you want people from overseas to listen to first?
海外の人に「この曲から聴いてみて」と言うのがあれば教えてもらえますか。
yumi: All of them, I guess… lol
最初から全部聴いて欲しい…（笑）
ayaka: I choose the part starting from “skit” to “FRESH!!!”. “skit” uses each of the comments that the members made at the one man live at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM which fits perfectly before listening to “FRESH!!!”.
私は「skit」からの「FRESH!!!」を聴いて欲しい。2014年11月の恵比寿リキッドルームのワンマンでの一人ひとりずつのコメントを「skit」で使ってるので、そこからの「FRESH!!!」聴いてもらいたいですね。
mei: It would be nice to deliver the enjoyable feeling that ayaka says when she is rapping.
「ラップをするのは楽しいです！」ってayakaが言ってるのでその楽しさが伝えられたらいいですね。
-Many of the people who are on the front-lines of the Japanese hip-hop world are contributing to this album’s creation. How does that make you feel?
今回のアルバムでは日本のヒップホップシーンの第一線で活躍されてる方々が制作に参加されてますが、そのことについてはどんなことを感じてますか？
yumi: We’re extremely grateful.
ありがたいですね。
mei: This time, many of the people who have supported lyrical school in the past joined to create this album. It felt great to realize that there are so many people who know us. Mr. LITTLE (Originally from KICK THE CAN CREW) returned for a second time. It was surprising since the last time was his first and the last time supporting us.
今回は、今までも協力していただいてlyrical schoolの事を知ってる方に作詞してもらった作品が多かったので、自分たちのことを知ってもらえてる嬉しさもありますね。LITTLEさん（元KICK THE CAN CREW）も今回が2回目ですし。正直、前に一度書いていただいたのが最初で最後だったのかな？と思ってたんですよ。
All: LOL

mei: I’m sooo grateful that he wrote the lyrics about ourselves for the album too.
まさかアルバムでも私たちの事を考えてリリックを書いてくださるなんて…ありがたい限りですよ。
yumi: Most of the people even came to the recording, and I was just overwhelmed.
ほとんどの方がレコーディングにも来てディレクションしてくださって…「はぁ〜」って感じですね。
ami: I understand that I should talk about the new songs, but the song “S.T.A.G.E.” that we have re-recorded is brimming with self-confidence. It focuses on the present lyrical school which is fun to listen to for those who know nothing about lyrical school and longtime fans alike.
本当なら新曲のことを言った方がいいと思うんですけど、私は過去の曲を再録した「S.T.A.G.E.」を聴くとみんな自信満々で歌ってる感じがして。本当に今のlyrical schoolが一番出てる気がするので、lyrical schoolを知らない方も知ってる方が聴いてもどっちも楽しめる曲だと思います。
-Is there anything else to add?
他に何かありますか？
hina: It might be just my opinion, but I love the part where the lyrics go, “kimi to kimi to kimi to kimi to… (with you, with you, with you, with you…)” in the song “Rainbow Disco”. That part of the song runs from the left to right where I repeat a lot. I don’t know if this is imaginable but, I always imagine an old elevator’s up and down arrow indicator moving until the bell dings. It’s only that but, I love that part!
私が勝手に「これいい！」って思ってるところなんですけど「レインボーディスコ」で「君と君と君と君と…」っていうところがあって、そこの声が左から右に声が流れて聴こえてくるんですよ。そこは結構リピートして聴きますね。これは伝わるか分からないんですけど昔のエレベーターで矢印が動いて…チンって鳴るのが好きなので、それをイメージしながら聴いてます。それだけなんですけど、そこがすごく好きなんです！（笑）
yumi: During the last single “PRIDE” we had 10 days straight of release events and went right into recording the song “SPOT” after the last day of Ebisu LIQUIDROOM one man live, which was on the 10th day of release events. It seems that this album shows the development of lyrical school after the release of “PRIDE”. This album contains two parts, I think. One is the way to understand what kind of live we do, which the song “skit” shows. The other is to understand what we as lyrical school are.
この前のシングルの「PRIDE」の発売の時に10日間連続リリースイベントをやって、その10日目に恵比寿リキッドルームのワンマンライブをして、それから「SPOT」のレコーディングに入ったんです。「PRIDE」の発売からのlyrical schoolの成長がこのアルバムには出たんじゃないかな？と思ってます。「skit」にライブの雰囲気が出てるのもあるんですけど、まだライブに遊びに来たことがない方にも今のlyrical schoolとライブの感じが分かりやすいアルバムになってるんじゃないかな？って。
-For the last question, I want to ask about the recent activities reaching out to overseas fans. You guys had a live in Taiwan for the first time last year. How was the stage and the atmosphere?
最後に海外での活動について聞きたいんですが、去年初めて台湾でライブをやりましたよね。その時の様子はどうでしたか？
ayaka: We had two days of live performances. The first day was at a shopping mall. There were so many people stopping by to watch us….
2日間ライブをさせてもらって、最初はショッピングモールだったんですけど、足を止めてくださる方が多くて。
hina: Not just stopping by, but dancing to the rhythm too. I thought people were very warmhearted.
足を止めてくれるだけじゃなくて、結構一緒に乗ってくれたりとかしてくれたので暖かいなって。
ayaka: It was a wonderful environment, which made us feel that we want to come back again.
初めてのライブが、素敵な環境だったので嬉しかったですね。来れてよかったって思いました。
mei: Performing in another country makes us rethink about how to perform easily and clearly to the audience. For example, we reconsidered how to make the call and response understandable, or translating the introduction to that language.
見てる方は私たちのことを知らないと思うので、自己紹介の時に現地の言葉で伝わるようにしようとか、煽り方も分かりやすくして、一緒にやってくださる方を増やそうって思ったりするので、新しい経験をしてちょっとだけでも成長をできるので楽しいですね。
ayaka: It makes us go back to the original intention. We are hoping to have more lives outside Japan.
初心に戻れるな、って。もう一回一から頑張っていこうと思えるので、これから海外でもどんどんライブしていきたいです。
-Is there a country that you would like to visit?
行ってみたい国ってありますか？
hina: I want to go to France.
私、フランス行きたいです。
-They do have Japan Expo.
Japan Expoとかありますからね。
yumi: I have lived in Indonesia before, so I would like to have a live there!
私は小さい頃にインドネシアに住んでたのでライブで行ってみたいですね！
