On September 21, at Osaka’s Kyocera Dome, the fashion event known as “KANSAI COLLECTION 2014 AUTUMN & WINTER” was held.

KANSAI COLLECTION is a hybrid fashion event, which was first held in 2011 and strives to “generate a new youth-driven fashion culture with Osaka as the epicenter”. The theme for the 8th KANSAI COLLECTION was “Believe in Miracles ~Girls, Take Flight! Miracle door, Open!~” and there was a fashion show featuring dozens of famous models as well as musical performances by several famous artists.

The fashion show featured about 40 of Japan’s top models such as: Lena Fujii, Nanao, Kozue Akimoto, and Tina Tamashiro. Many of the most popular high fashion brands showcased their upcoming fall and winter lines for the attendees. In addition to Japan’s top models, there was another stage featuring top models from overseas, such as Taiwan’s Cherry Hsia and EeLin.

Musical guests included: Naoto Inti Raymi, MINMI, BENI, and EXILE’s new unit, THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE. Queen of the “monomane meiku” Zawachin was there and debuted her latest look, G-DRAGON from BIGBANG! She showed monomane performance with the back dancers, and made the audience amuse.

When talking about Kansai, there are differences between Osaka, Kobe, and Nagoya but, generally, it is said that it is known for having a fashion culture not to be found in Tokyo. Even though the emphasis of KANSAI COLLECTION was the fashion show featuring famous models and top brands, if they also feature the real, vibrant fashion that can only be found in Kansai, Kansai Collection might be more and more interesting?
