TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2016 Records 220 Performers! AKB48 Team 8 Added to Lineup!

TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2016, the largest idol festival in the world, has announced the most number of idol performers this year with 220 groups!!
Last year, the festival recorded more than 50 thousand fans, and this is the 7th time to be held. This year, they set a catch copy “TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL Starting of a New Chapter!” and extended the event from 2 days to 3 days.
Also, it has been announced that AKB48 Team 8 will appear on August 5 (Fri)! The performing members will be revealed later on AKB48 Team 8’s official website.
AKB48 is a group known for the concept “idols you can meet”, but AKB48 Team 8 has turned it around to to “idols that go to meet you”. Members were chosen through an audition held in 47 prefectures in Japan, and 1 girl was chosen from each prefecture.
