Seiko Oomori’s first major album, Sennou (Brainwashing), will go on sale from December 3rd (Wednesday), and include a music clip for “Nostalgic J-pop”, which has already been released via Seiko Oomori’s official YouTube channel.

“Nostalgic J-pop” is an earlier work showing off Oomori’s talent, and a popular hit sung with only simple accompaniment. With cutting lyrics about what women really think on the inside, it’s a gem of an upbeat ballad that many feel they can relate to. The music clip, shot from her room and bathroom, shows her view of the world and is a must see, where Oomori sings in a soothing voice with all kinds of paraphernalia decorating the room, stuck up and hanging chaotically in the background. Seiko Oomori had this to say about the production of the clip:

“I felt good about turning something that was the very antithesis of nostalgia, where you’re told ‘not to mix too much gentleness or sadness with a song or atmosphere of that degree’, into J-pop. It’s got a harsh sound and melody in a good way, so I hope you’ll listen to it over and over again on for free on YouTube☆”

Her first album Sennou, on sale from Wednesday, December 3rd, naturally includes the single “Kyuru Kyuru”, as well as “Date wa Yameyou!”, which suddenly became popular from her live performances, the theme from Wonderful World End “Noroi wa Mizuiro”, and the well received “Imitation Girls” from TIF (Tokyo Idol Festival) with Miss iD members on the chorus, along with many other great numbers, for a 13 track in total release. There are two DVD included versions; one comes with two single video clips and documentary footage (about 60 minutes), while the other will include footage from her October 3rd concert at Cinema Club.

Furthermore, the jacket photo shoot for the CD took place in New York. Photographer Masafumi Sanai was asked to shoot the rarely seen, ordinary side of Seiko Oomori in and around New York, and is definitely something worth checking out. Photos will be featured in a glorious, 80 page photo book included with the first press version of Sennou Type■ CD+DVD. Seiko Oomori in New York, a seemingly unbalanced combination at first glance, actually brings out the perfect amount of chaos in a very impressive layout.

Already hurling rocks at the current music scene with her celebrated first album Sennou, and with the coinciding announcement of her “Bakuretsu! Nana-chan to Iku Love Love Sennou Tour”, it’ll be interesting to see until next spring what kind of mark Seiko Oomori leaves behind.
