GiRLPOP was a supplemental “mook” (Japanese term that comes from combining the words magazine and book, it is an extra large-sized magazine) that was published by Sony Magazines from 1992 until 2006. Bringing together the idol movement with coverage of young female singer-songrwriters, GiRLPOP also produced television programs, radio shows, and live concert events; it was truly a legendary magazine.
Although the magazine ceased publication in 2006, it was resurrected in June of 2011, after a 5-year hiatus. With the objective of supporting the female artists currently active in the Japanese music scene, GiRLPOP has once again become an overwhelming force in the music scene.
Commonly selling out as soon as it hits magazine racks all over Japan, GiRLPOP features exclusive photos and original articles to bring readers the most interesting and current information available. For the first time ever, GiRLPOP is available in English and online!
