On November 22nd, six member danso (girls crossdressing as boys) unit Fudanjuku held a pair of special concerts at Roppongi’s Nicofarre venue. During the encore of the second performance, member Midorikawa Kyohei announced that he will graduate from the group in spring of 2016.

In connection with November 22nd’s “Ii Fuufu no Hi” (“Good Couples’ Day,”) all of the songs performed in the concerts featured Fudanjuku members in pairs, offering the audience a rare chance to see a variety of duets. As the second performance came to a close, just before the last encore song, member Akazono Kojiro announced, “Midorikawa Kyohei has something to say,” and the audience quickly became nervous.

“I’m sorry to announce this so suddenly,” he began, and took a deep breath. “I, Midorikawa Kyohei, will graduate next spring. Up until now, I’ve always tried to interact with everyone seriously and honestly. Of course, in my remaining time in the group, I’ll continue to do that.”

He continued, “Originally, I had no interest in idols… But I’ve spent a long period of of my life as part of this unit. Even more so than the months and years it took and the things I’ve done, the amazing people I’ve been able to meet through these activities are the most important to me.” An original member of the group which made its debut in 2008, Kyohei’s activities have continued for over 7 years. “I was able to meet everyone. Just because of that, I’m glad I became an idol. This time has really felt like a dream to me,” he said, visibly emotional.

In January, Fudanjuku will begin the new year with a 4-city, 7-performance tour, “Fudanjuku Live 2016 ~6MONKEYS~.”
