AKB48 sub-unit DiVA’s first single was titled “Tsuki no Uragawa” (Dark Side of the Moon) so is it any coincidence that they have returned to the moon for their final single “DISCOVERY”, which will be released on October 8th, the day of the next lunar eclipse?

The video opens with the members walking through free-standing doorways on the surface of the moon. Perhaps symbolic of their status as graduated members, Sayaka Akimoto and Yuka Masuda are the last ones to appear onscreen. In addition to scenes of the members floating through space, one of the points of the choreography is the part where they are kicking up moon dust. “DISCOVERY” is an upbeat dance tune with pulsing beats, thanks to the production of the legendary Tetsuya Komuro. At the end of the TV spot after the short version of the music video, the members of DIVA are shown standing on the moon and looking back at the earth.
